Day 12 - Tues 20th Sept - Fort Smith to Hot Springs

Today is all about Arkansas, the distance between the 2 hotels is 135 miles taking the fastest route. If someone would like to shoot down some more if the I40 and get to Conway early they have that choice. I am thinking about getting out into the Arkansas Back roads. First up is Route 23 The Pig Trail Scenic Byway, USA Today list this as the number 2 best ride in America. Wow we are going to be doing 6 of them on this trip!

Riding through The Ozarks
As we finish the Pig Trail we head across to Osage where we join the Highway 123, known as the Arkansas Dragon. This particular route has over 180 switchbacks with most of those being on the Arkansas Dragon. Highway 123 is so curvy that no large trucks can drive on it!We then move onto Route 7,The Arkansas Scenic Byway, just another reason we are riding this area. This road takes us all the way to our accommodation on Lake Hamilton.
